Current Priorities

The exterior of the main building which is used for gatherings, homework, kitchen, dining room, laundry, apartment, and storage continues to deteriorate due to crumbling siding. The south side of the building (closest to Piedras Negras) is in the worst condition. See pictures below:
We need to replace the windows and re-side the building with a product similar to 'Hardibord' that will bear the harsh weather and the wear the children can do to a building.
For the past few years, the parsonage /staff housing project has taken most of our attention, but now that that phase is completed, we turn our attention back to the maintenance projects of the buildings that enable us to operate a children's home.
Thanks to the generous help of our Partners, the flood damage caused by Hurricane Alex last year has been addressed in the areas that we are occupying, but there is still much structural work to do.
Additionally, the stairs and balcony leading up to the second floor of the girl's dormitory are weak and should be replaced with a steel staircase.
The canopy is weaker than the stairs, but it can be repaired more easily.

Listing of Current Projects at Casa Jovenes Del Rey
Following the recently completed renovation of the INTERIOR of the property at Casa Jovenes Del Rey (boys' home in town), the focus now turns to the EXTERIOR.
Casa Jovenes Del Rey Projects to be completed:
1) Exterior renovation that would restore and connect the new and existing buildings together
2) Construction of a second floor onto both buildings.
